Fiesch

In the Goms Valley, at the foot of Eggishorn, a peak overlooking Aletschgletscher. Goms Valley stretches from Brig to 3 alpine passes connecting Wallis (Valais) to Tessin (Nufenen), Bern (Grimsel) and Uri (Furka). Great area for summer hikes and winter sports.

Fiesch

Fiesch is located in the heart of the Goms valley, at the foot of the Eggishorn, which overlooks the Aletsch glacier, the largest and most spectacular of the Swiss glaciers, at almost 3000 m.

The Goms Valley (Gomstal), in the very east of the German-speaking part of the Valais, climbs up from Brig to the top of 3 Alpine passes linking the Upper Valais to the Ticino (Nufenen Pass, in Italian Passo della Novena), to the Bernese Oberland (Grimsel Pass) and to the south of the canton of Uri (Furka Pass).

In summer, Fiesch is an ideal starting point for discovering the Aletsch Glacier from the Eggishorn summit (reached by cable car) and for countless hikes: there are more than 1000km of marked trails in the region. It is also a mountaineering paradise, with climbs of all levels of difficulty.

In winter, Fiesch is a downhill skiing paradise (35 lifts for over 100km of runs) as well as a cross-country skiing paradise (also over 100km of runs).

Fiesch is also an extraordinary place for train travellers as the village is located on the Matterhorn-Gotthard-Bahn line, a metre-gauge train that passes through some of the most beautiful landscapes in Switzerland.

On the valley side, the line runs down to Brig and Visp and then up to Zermatt and the Matterhorn. On the mountain side, the line climbs the Furka and reaches Andermatt in Canton Uri and Disentis in Canton Graubünden.
