Located at the crossroads of Roman roads, Urba was subject to regular invasions. The fortified town bears witness to this.
In the fields of Boscéaz, located 2 km from Orbe, 9 Roman mosaics were discovered and are preserved on site: a unique collection in Switzerland giving visitors an idea of the imposing Roman villa that contained them.
This medieval town proposes countless hikes, namely to one of the oldest stone bridges in Switzerland, the Round Tower, from where visitors can discover a unique panorama.
The Orbe vineyards mainly produce Chasselas, Gamay and Gamaret. Local winegrowers and cellarers open their 16 cool stone cellars to let visitors taste Côtes de l’Orbe wines.
Hikes through vineyards and guided tours of the town are also available. Three marked cycling paths cross the Orbe plain, representing level circuits of some twenty km without any traffic.
Orbe is located 10 minutes from Yverdon-les-Bains.
