Dixence RiverAbstractIt's hard to believe that the Grande-Dixence dam was built on the course of this small torrent! Yet that is indeed the case, with the 400 million cubic metres of the Lake of the Dix fed by 35 glaciers, whose waters are brought in via 100 kilometres of tunnels starting from catchments that are sometimes far away. Some of the water you see flowing gently here comes from the slopes of the Matterhorn!
