Champéry

The charming Valaisan resort of Champéry is nestled at the foot of the Dents du Midi and Dents Blanches massifs at an altitude of 1,050m. Historically, tourism here dates back as far as 1857, with the opening of the Grand Hotel de la Dent du Midi. This makes Champéry one of the oldest tourist destinations in Switzerland.

Today, lined with beautifully preserved chalets adorned with sculpted balconies and "toits en sifflet", the main street continues to enchant visitors. The "toit en sifflet", a roofline reminiscent of a ship's prow, is an architectural trait unique to the region. Sheltered under these graceful eaves is a veritable parade of boutiques, restaurants and bars that will keep you busy even in the worst of weather!

In summer, the "Champérolains" host numerous festivals and invite their guests to share their love for tradition, folklore and dancing in the company of local artisans and the village folk dancing group.

In less than 5 minutes, the Champéry-Planachaux cable car will whisk you away to the Portes du Soleil. This fabulous recreational area, with over 650 km of ski slopes in winter and 380 km of marked trails in summer, is a dream come true for anyone who loves to slide, carve, hike or bike.

The sports centre also offers a panoply of activities with its skating rink, curling lanes, indoor and outdoor pools and its badminton, tennis and beach volley courts.
