Pramont (Lac de)

An inaccessible, wild biotope located just a few hundred metres from the Rhône, opposite the village and the valley of Réchy.

There's no need to Google it or Wikipedia it, you won't find it. It's a very secret place, a little oasis that you can only see from a distance.

Lake Pramont is in fact a pond, a "gouille" as we say in Valais. It is the result of a former gravel pit that was flooded and landscaped to develop biodiversity.

It is off-limits to visitors, but there is an observation post with an information panel where you can get a glimpse and, with a bit of luck, see some of the biotope's inhabitants: kingfishers, herons, beavers, frogs, snakes, dragonflies and butterflies.

It can be reached by following the left bank of the Rhône from the Chalais bridge, then turning left after the large artificial hill created to enclose former fluoride waste.

It's a lovely, easy walk along the Rhône, and we'll be showing you some panoramic views in spring 2024.
