Dôle (La)

1677 m above the sea, it's the second highest summit of the Swiss Jura. Situated above Nyon, it's easily reachable with a marked trail and if you're lucky you'll see many chamois.

A road leads up to Chalet de la Dôle (alt. 1439m), at the foot of the summit, from Gingins, a village above Nyon. From there, you can climb to the summit and follow the ridge path, which offers a magnificent panoramic view of Lake Léman (Lake Geneva) and the Mont Blanc massif.

Next to Chalet de la Dôle you will see a cable car station... but it is not open to the public. It serves the technical installations on the summit, which include telecommunications relays, an air traffic control radar and a meteorological station.

In winter, the north side of La Dôle is a ski area which is is part of the Franco-Swiss destination "Jura upon Léman". From December to March, a chairlift serves the summit from the Dappes Valley, on the border between Switzerland and France.
